About the Artist- Jared Garcia

My journey with clay began in high school, where my passion for ceramics took root through four years of dedicated study, culminating in AP Studio Art. This foundation led me to minor in Art with an emphasis in ceramics during college, where I discovered my natural affinity for sculptural forms over traditional pottery.

Five years ago, I established MAMC Ceramics as a platform to showcase my evolving artistic vision. My practice has undergone continuous transformation, with the past two years devoted to exploring handbuilding techniques, particularly slab construction, which has allowed me to create distinctive sculptural pieces that challenge conventional forms.

Most recently, my artistic journey has come full circle as I've rediscovered the meditative rhythm of the potter's wheel. This renewed interest in throwing has inspired my current focus: developing a signature aesthetic for functional dinnerware that bridges the gap between everyday utility and artistic expression.

Each piece I create reflects my ongoing exploration of clay's boundless possibilities—where tradition meets innovation, and function embraces form.
